Advanced Photography Final Exam

        



   1.  Robert Capa was the famous photographer that stormed normandy with the soldiers during WWII, he was able to capture 106 photographs yet only 11 survived. 

   2.  The photography agency that Capa created after the war was the Magnum Agency with, Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger and David "Chim" Seymour. 

   3.  Henri Cartier-Bresson says that in order for a photograph to be successful three things need to be aligned which are the head, heart and eye.

   The masters inspired post was hands down my favorite this first semester, We chose Paul Strand for this assignment. He thought us many different techniques, that we used for inspiration for this post. I was able to show what i learned from researching Strands work, and keep a few tips for my photography experience.

5. Favorite photo

       My favorite photo was this one of Brenda, what i liked about it was that the camera was focused on her and not on the background which makes the image more intense. Also the models eyes are focused on the viewers.


6. My Best photos

I chose these to be my best photos, Starting of with the first image where the exposure of the sun makes the colors of the image intense. The second image i chose because the space provided by the background intensifies the main subject which helps to draw the attention of the viewer straight to the model. The third image uses the rule of compositions which is lines making the main subject hard to not see. The texture added to this image changes the entire structure of it.


7. Working in Groups
 
         Advantages

• We get to work with each other. 
• Always have someone to ask if any help needed.
• Different ideas for any group assignments. 

        Disadvantages

• Some differences may come along. 
• It may be hard sometimes to keep everyone at the same paste. 
• The lack of communication can hurt the entire group.

The three things that Henri Cartier Bresson Knew when his photos were good was being sure to align the head, take a picture when the shutter would open, and you have to observe and see how things are going like a painter before taking the picture.

I chose this cover because i liked the whole theme, The way the artists stood out and the pop of pink in the photo.

First Semester Final Project

In this image reflects the models personality, Brenda was not ready for a picture and that is the best way to capture a real image.

Cristina is a very photogenic person as taking a great image of her is not difficult at all. surrounded by the shadows of the nature surrounding us.

Brian a very serious model was preparing to be photographed meanwhile i took a few shots of him not prepared.

The main focus in this image is Brian leaving the background a bit blurry and not as clear as the main subject.

Brenda was pretending to be a professional model playing around while i prepared to capture it. The depth in this image captures the viewers attention.
                                     
Johanes a very serious person makes a great model. His eyes seem to follow the viewer.

This image reflects the personality of the model. The picture describes the setting making everyone who views this image a little bit more happy.

This is an image of Brenda where she smiles directly at the camera when given instructions not to do so, making this image a bit more passionate. 

This image shows the model enjoying herself. which inspires the viewer to be more joyful.

Paul Strand 

        Paul Strand was born in New York City on October 16, 1890 to Bohemian Parents. Strand was first introduced to photography in high school at the Ethical Culture Fieldstone school by Lewis Hine. In early 1915, his mentor Stieglitz criticized the graphic softness of Strand's photographs and over the next two years he dramatically changed his technique and made extraordinary photographs on three principal themes: movement in the city, abstractions, and street portraits.Paul was called the biggest, widest most commanding talent in American history. Strand was also interested in film making he produced his first film 1921 with Charles Sheeler. Paul Strand was inducted into the International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum in 1984.

We chose Paul strand because, His photographs showed us a different meaning to what photography meant to us. His inspiring techniques on how to use a camera and what to show on an image. thought us that a camera can capture life itself. GHis art was meant to g beyond our vision of reality. Having such an inspirational Photographer was able to reflect on the images we all took as a group.

   To take the best portrait photos, it is important to make the the model feel comfortable to make the photographs look natural, to take lots of shots because it will give you a larger amount of options of portraits,  and to have a background that will not interface with the person being photographed.

Artistic Review

       As photography teacher at Pittsburg High Bryan Farley has been taking photographs of what he says "still trying to give voice to the voiceless by creating a dynamic flat image". Living with an "invisible disability" Epilepsy he will demonstrate the art of showing whats not visible, visible for everyones else's eyes.Through the art of photography Farley relates with many people using such concepts as children, families, and things that are not as visible as others.

    While observing his website, something that was clear throughout the page was the connecting he has with children and people in general. Looking at all the images involving children, the connection between the photographer and the person being photographed tell us many things about the person taking the picture and the way he treats people around him. his images show stories that are not being told or explained by anyone, you could make up your own description about whats going on at the moment where the photo was taken.

    An image caught my attention was the one with the toe men hugging, San Marin Basketball Season Ends This image can tell you what was happening at the moment without having to be there at that exact moment. Just by looking at the image you get a feeling of emotion happening when they hugged each other  you could tell that they were happy for something that had just occurred maybe the winning of a basketball game.        

     Another image that stood out out of all his fantastic peaces of art was in the love's promise gallery were he took many images of nature and flowers. Cropping for Better Composition 2

The original photo was taken with the purpose of creating an image using leading lines. The second image was cropped making the lines more visible. The lines lead the viewers eyes to the main subject of the image.
